Hexamination is a Slay the Spire-inspired prototype for a turn-based deckbuilding rogue-lite about a student witch taking her final exam: a race to be the first to escape a labyrinthine magic library. It was made by a team of 3 for the 2-week final project for Code Coven's Introduction to Game Programming in Unity. It was collectively designed by Arka Tu (artist, additional programming), Jess Levine (lead programmer, combat designer, additional narrative designer), and Sunny Berry (character artist, UI designer, narrative designer, additional programming.)

How to play

Each turn, you draw until you have five cards in your hand and have three mana to spend.

Cards can be used in two ways, both of which cost the same amount of mana (listed in the top left of the card):

  • Cast: Use the card immediately, causing the effect listed on the card & then discard it.
  • Ritualize: Power up the card, gaining the benefit that follows "Ritual" and keeping the card in your hand to use the next turn.

Deal damage to reduce your opponent's health to 0 before they reduce yours to 0!

Dispel can absorb damage, but be careful: you lose all your dispel at the beginning of each turn.
